Kyrgyzstan Man Held at Delhi Airport for Gold Smuggling

Kochi: A Kyrgyzstan national has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold jewellery, worth about Rs. 22 lakh, at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi.

The accused was intercepted by Customs officials after his arrival here from Bishkek on Tuesday. On detailed examination of his baggage and personal search, one gold chain and a gold bracelet, total weighing 922 gms, were recovered, a Customs release today said.

The gold jewellery was assessed to be worth Rs. 22 lakh, it said, adding the passenger was arrested.
