Navi Mumbai airport vets four global bidders

Navi Mumbai: Rs 14,000-crore Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) crossed a major milestone with four global consortiums being qualified for bidding.

The NMIA project is proposed to be developed through public private participation (PPP) by establishment of a special purpose vehicle (SPV) with 26 per cent equity contribution from CIDCO.

The Project Monitoring and Implementation Committee (PMIC) chaired by Chief Secretary Swadhin Kshatriya qualified all the four bidders, the CIDCO officials said.

CIDCO commenced the first stage of the two-stage bidding process by issuing request for quali?cation (RFQ) vide a global tender notice on February 5, 2014. Four major global players namely GMR Airports, Mumbai International Airport (MIAL), Zurich Airport and Voluptas Developers (Hiranandani Group) and MIA Infrastructure (VINCI Airports International S A and Tata Realty) submitted the application for pre-qualification, highlighting the keen interest elicited by this project .
