The Tamil Nadu government has requested the Civil Aviation Ministry to spruce up Chennai airport before the global investors' summit scheduled for September this year.
Following the request from the state, the Ministry has asked the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to look into the matter, a senior Ministry official said today.
AAI is managing the Chennai airport, which is also proposed to be privatised. It has invested around Rs 2,500 crore on modernisation and upgrading works.
According to the official, the ministry recently received a request from Tamil Nadu for upgrading the Chennai airport before the global investors' summit in September.
