Kozhikode: The Kozhikode Corporation today demanded immediate steps for runway development at Calicut International Airport near here.
An all party meet convened by Mayor Prof A K Premajam decided to submit memoranda to concerned authorities for the purpose, said a release.
The meet, in a resolution, noted that passengers, particularly to Gulf region, using the airport were increasing day by day.
Besides, hundreds of devotees were boarding flights from Calicut for Haj pilgrimage.
Stating the airport lacked capacity to meet the rush of passengers, the also meet noted that delay in land acquisition was the many impediment for the runway development.
Civil Aviation Ministry had also informed that land was the main issue coming into the way of airport development, the meet recollected.
