Ahmedabad: Most fliers grab a newspaper or a book from the book store at the airport to pass time while waiting to board the plane. But this is not possible at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel domestic terminal as the book stall here has been lying shut for over a year now. Manav Patel, a 40-year-old businessman travels to Mumbai frequently. "Flights usually get delayed. Iwould buy magazines or newspapers from the stall to while away time.
"However, the stall has been shut for a while. I met the airport terminal manager and asked him to get the stall opened again, but nothing has been done so far," he said. An airport source said, "The stall rent was hiked and the contractor protested against this. When they failed to sort out the issue, the stall was closed. Passengers have sent letters and emails asking for the stall to be reopened but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears."
