Bomb threat forces Jet Airways to make Muscat Airport emergency landing

Muscat: A Jet Airways flight (9W-536) made an emergency landing at Muscat International Airport on Thursday afternoon after a “bomb threat” was reported.

No explosive had been found on the aircraft at time of writing.

The plane, which was flying from Mumbai to Dubai, was diverted to Muscat International Airport after the pilot reportedly told the Air Traffic Controllers warned of the bomb threat.

The plane was then guided to the Muscat international airport and it landed safely at round 1.08 pm. “It was taken to an isolated bay and all the passengers were evacuated. The flight is right now grounded at Muscat International Airport and we are waiting for clearances from the concerned authorities to fly again,” Riyaz Kuttery, General Manager, Jet Airways, Oman, said.

The airport was closed for 5 to 10 minutes following the bomb scare.

Speaking to Times of Oman, a senior official of the Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC), said that the airport was opened after officials inspected the aircraft and found nothing suspicious in the flight.
