Calicut Airport Upkeep: Talks with Centre Likely

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has made it clear that discussions, if needed, would be held with the Centre and the Civil Aviation Ministry to resolve the difficulties faced by the passengers at the Kozhikode Airport due to maintenance work, according to Ports Minister K Babu. He also said that a meeting has been called on July 28, taking into account the urgency in resolving the issue,the Minister told the Assembly while replying to a calling motion moved by K Muhammedunni Haji. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) had suspended the operation of big aircrafts at the airport due to safety concerns arising out of the precarious surface condition of the runway. But the airport has not been completely closed and smaller aircrafts would continue to operate, he added.
