Delays, cancellations weigh down SpiceJet, Air India

An analysis by The Hindu of the monthly reports by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation shows that IndiGo cancelled an average of 0.5 per cent of its flights over the period June 2014 to May 2015. In contrast, SpiceJet cancelled 4.9 per cent and Air India 2 per cent of their flights, respectively, in the same period.

SpiceJet, in particular, seems to have been hit by adverse weather conditions. None of the other airlines were similarly affected.

Overall, IndiGo Airlines emerged as the best, and Air India and SpiceJet among the worst airlines on other customer-centric parameters as well.
