New Delhi: Tarun Vijay, BJP MP and an ardent follower of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, met Union civil aviation minister P Ashok Gajapati Raju on Saturday and handed over to him a memorandum on the behalf of West Bengal BJP workers and the president of Bagdogra BJP unit Rathin Bose to rename Bagdogra airport after Jana Sangh founder and BJP's inspiration Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
Tarun Vijay requested civil aviation minister Raju that an announcement to this effect may be made on 6th July, Dr Syama Prasad's birthday.
Tarun Vijay told civil aviation minister that the nationalist people of the country, especially those who belong to the BJP and allied parties, remember the birthday of this great patriotic leader, who laid his life for the national unity on 6th July 1953 at a Srinagar jail.
