Bhubaneswar: Although the state government has selected local carrier Air Odisha to launch intra-state air services, it is unlikely to take off before Nabakalebara as was proposed. The carrier was the lowest bidder after the government opened the tender on Friday.
According to official sources, three players participated in the tender. After one was disqualified, the contest was between Deccan Charters and Air Odisha. "We have only opened the tender and Air Odisha was found to be the lowest bidder. We are yet to issue orders to start the operation. We will give three months (from the date of issue of order) to start the operations," said additional secretary, general administration department R S Gopalan. He added that there were some formalities to be completed before start of the operation.
