Ker to approach Centre to set up police aid post at airports

Kerala government today said it would seek Centre's permission to set up police aid posts at the three airports in the state to avoid any law and order issues.
The move comes in the wake of the recent incident at Karipur airport in which a CISF jawan was killed in a clash between CISF and AAI personnel.

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala told the Assembly that at present Kerala police had no role in the affairs of airports as they are solely managed by the Airport Authority of India and the agencies like Central Industrial Security Force.

The state Intelligence Department has no access to the developments within the airports, he said.

"At present, state police can intervene into the domestic affairs of airport only if there is any law and order situation. So, we will approach the Centre to set up a police station or aid post at airports.
