Kerala to go ahead with seaplane project

The ambitious seaplane project, designed to link major tourist locations in Kerala, will become operational soon, Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar informed the state Assembly today.

In the first phase, the seaplace service would be operated in tourist destinations like Ashtamudi, Punnamada, Bolgatty and Bakel.

The project had gone into hibernation since its inaugural flight in June 2013 following the apprehensions raised by local fishermen who feared that it would affect their livelihood and impact on the marine ecology.

Subsequently, the government had appointed a high-level committee to look into the complaints.
