Bengaluru: With the annual passenger traffic at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) expected to touch 20 million next year, the airport will need a second runway and another terminal to cater to the additional passenger load.
Confirming this, KIA senior director (finance) Bhaskar Bodapati said deliberations in this regard are in progress.
“It is imperative to have a second runway, there is no doubt about it. Kempegowda International Airport ended the 2014-15 fiscal with 15.4 million (passengers). This year, it is expected to touch 18 million. Next year, the figure is expected to touch 20 million, hence extra facilities are needed.”
