Airport security relaxation request hits road block

Srinagar: With J&K government reportedly seeking relaxation of relax security norms at Srinagar and Jammu airports, the heightened security threat coupled with ‘source based’ stories in national media could well pour cold water of state governments plans.
A source based story on a leading news portal Monday claimed that ‘LeT may hijack planes to secure the release of 20 arrested militants in J&K and as such the Home Ministry has asked the state government to beef up the security in and around the airports.’Responding to the apprehension created through this update, Dy CM Nirmal Singh on Monday said that the state is ready to deal with such threats although he does not have any information regarding it.
“I do not have this type of information but there are rumours that they (militants) can hijack airplanes,” Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh told Kashmir Monitor.
