Kochi: Officials of the Customs Department on Saturday morning arrested a Malappuram-native on charges of smuggling gold at the Cochin International Airport Limited, Nedumbassery.
The arrested person, identified as Vijesh, had concealed seven gold bars, worth around Rs 20 lakh, in his rectum.
“We detained Vijesh, who had arrived from Dubai, at the exit gate of the arrival hall, based on a tip-off. Later, he was produced before the Customs office for interrogation.
