Hyderabad: Some TDP MLAs and top officials of the AP government had to undergo some nerve-racking moments when the Air India flight in which they were travelling from Hyderabad to Vijayawada had to make an emergency landing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here minutes after takeoff due to a technical snag.
The flight AI 544, an Airbus 319, had to land back at the airport within 35 minutes of its takeoff at 4.05 pm on Tuesday. The flight was scheduled to fly to Vijayawada from Delhi via Hyderabad. About 102 passengers were on board.
TDP MLAs Modugula Venugopala Reddy, Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao and Chintamaneni Prabhakar, AP Intelligence chief AB Venkateswara Rao and other key officials including eight IAS officers of the AP government were among the passengers. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief after the pilot landed the plane by identifying the problem, thereby avoiding a mishap.
