Mumbai: On the eve of Independence Day, as the city was covered by a security blanket, even the airport took no chances. Senior officials at the airport were not allowed on the premises without an authorized entry pass.
On Thursday, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel stopped one of the senior-most government officers, who has his office at the airport, and refused to let him in without an entry pass. This annoyed the officer as he expected the security staff to know him, said sources. However, the CISF personnel stayed firm and allowed him in only after he arranged for his entry pass.
"The airport is always a highly secured area and security agencies restrict visitors' movement for a couple of day before Independence Day. One needs to carry his/her entry pass to avoid any inconvenience," said an official.
