Rs2k cr for new Patna airport

Patna: The Centre's special package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore to Bihar includes Rs 2,000 crore for construction of a new airport in Patna, Rs 700 crore for development of existing airports at Gaya, Raxaul and Purnia and Rs 600 crore for development of seven tourist circuits in the state. A sum of Rs 600 crore will be spent on upgrading medical colleges at Patna, Bhagalpur and Gaya.

Road connectivity will be strengthened at a cost of Rs 54,713 crore which will be spent on widening of 2,775km of national highways and construction of 12 rail over bridges and bridges on the Ganga, Kosi and Sone. A sum of Rs 13,820 crore will be spent on 22,500km rural roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

A sum of Rs 21,476 crore has been allocated for the petroleum and natural gas projects under which the capacity of Barauni Refinery will be expanded from 6 million tonnes to 9 million tonnes for Rs 12,000 crore.
