Scrap Yavatmal airstrip pact: Min

Yavatmal: The controversy over the transfer of airstrip to Reliance company by the previous DF Govt resurfaced in a meeting held chaired by finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar in Mumbai on Tuesday. District guardian minister Sanjay Rathod has demanded cancellation of the agreement signed between the state government and Reliance if the latter fails to develop the aerodrome and expedite the proposal for ensuring night landing facility at the airport.

After his return, Rathod told TOI that he demanded cancellation of the MoU as Reliance has not shown interest in making the airport operation in the last six years since the signing of the pact.

Mungantiwar has instructed the officers and representatives of the concerned companies to submit a report regarding the present status of the airport and if the company is interested in making the airport operational.
