Wayward drone keeps police on toes

Thiruvananthapuram: A camera-fitted drone that crash-landed in Sastha Nagar, close to the military camp at Pangode, kept the police on its toes for nearly four hours on Sunday before it was confirmed that the wayward device had been blown away from a wedding shoot in the city by a rogue blast of wind.

K. Manikandan Unni, sub inspector, Poojappura, said the drone belonged to a Kochi-based advertisement and photography firm, Smoke Ads, who were shooting a wedding at the Trivandrum Club here. The shoot on the club premises was almost over and the crew were filming the bride coming out, when a sudden blast of wind threw the drone out of control, around 3.30 p.m. hurling it higher into the sky. It landed several kilometres away, in the courtyard of a house at Shasta Nagar, near the Pangode military camp.
