AAA refutes Gan flying school closing rumours

The Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA) on Sunday denied the rumours circulating in the media that their flight school in Seenu atoll Gan island is being shut down.

The Sri Lanka-managed company declared that they have no intention of closing the flight school and requested media not to spread the rumours without proper verification.

In an interview to Haveeru, AAA’s CEO/Director and Head of Pilot Training Captain Suranjan De Silva said that the rumours quoting him of the flight school closing are completely untrue.
‘It’s absolutely not true. We have no such intention. We are managing the flight school in Gan according to our contract with the government,” he said. “This place is ideal for this work, so don’t have thoughts of transferring the Gan flying school to another place, either. We will do our best to carry on this work here.”
There are 75 trainees currently studying at the flying school, of which 54 are Maldivians. Foreign students at the school include those from India, Sri Lanka, China and Singapore.
