Accused in passport scandal held

Moga:  An accused of the infamous Moga fake passport scandal has been arrested from Indira Gandhi international airport. The accused Manbir Singh of Ghanie ke Bangar village near Batala was returning from Hong Kong on Saturday when Moga police arrested him from the airport. He was produced in the court of duty magistrate Prashant Verma on Sunday who sent him in police remand till September 15. Manbir had prepared passport on the fake name of Amandeep Singh of Moga in 2006 and had shifted to Hong Kong. A look out circular (LOC) was issued against his name. Nearly 100 persons have been arrested in the passport scandal in the last over seven years after the case was registered on July 13, 2008. Special investigation team (SIT) is probing the scandal.
