AI team satisfied with Surat airport facilities

Surat: A technical team of Air India (AI) arrived at Surat airport on Sunday to carry out safety inspection ahead of Airbus flight operation between Surat and New Delhi from October 1.

Sources said Air India had sent a letter to airport director asking for slot clearance for operating Airbus in the evening. The technical team members carried out a thorough inspection of the airport runway, infrastructure at the building, installation work of the two aero bridges, perimeter wall, etc. The team members were satisfied with the progress at the airport.

Airport director Pramod Thakre told TOI, "The safety inspection by the technical team was for the proposed night operation for Airbus between New Delhi and Surat. They are going to submit a positive report to the Air India headquarters by Monday. Hopefully, the official declaration of the new flight could be made in the next one week."
