Air India begins process for hiring 800 cabin crew

New Delhi: State-owned carrier, Air India which has been suffering from shortage of cabin crew has initiated the process of inducting 800 cabin crew.
Civil aviation ministry officials said that once the hiring is over, which is expected to happen over the next few months, Air India will be in a “comfortable position”. The airline has been suffering from pilots and cabin crew complaining of rosters being changed once finalised.
An internal survey early this year revealed that nearly 50% of the roster is changed after it is made, causing confusion and in turn causing delays.
Ministry officials said that so far two recruitment exercises have been undertaken. “Total of 534 candidates have been selected so far, and the process is still on,” said officials.
