Air India pilots vote 'overwhelmingly' to strike work

New Delhi: The national carrier may see yet another strike by its pilots.
The Indian Commercial Pilots' Association (ICPA, union of erstwhile IA pilots) have voted 'overwhelmingly' in support of striking work against the government decision to take commanders out of workman category. This exclusion from workman category means commanders can neither form unions, nor go on strikes.
The ICPA had held a secret ballot from August 31 to September 9 to decide whether to strike on this issue or not. Late on Sunday night, it declared the result of that ballot in a letter that said: "We are overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and support shown by our members by participating in the secret ballot and all the four regions (north, south, east and west) have voted in favour of strike."
