Chennai airport’s new app is so outdated, it’s embarrassing

Chennai Airport’s new app, like any application created for a major airport in the country has so much potential to be great, but unfortunately, fails to impress.
You’d think the primary function of the app would be to keep you up-to-date with the latest flight information. For this, you are redirected to an external website, defeating the very purpose of an app. The most publicised highlight of the app however is the ‘My Place’ feature that pin-points a user’s location via GPS in relation to the facilities within the airport. This is one of the few features that works natively, but is far from user-friendly. The best way to navigate through the airport is to follow the signs, or just ask. The app also provides contact details of the nearest police station, as well as those of prominent airport officials. The rest of the app is just a collection of links to largely useless information: About AAI, Tourism, Rules and Regulations, Tenders and Events (which opens to an unimpressive gallery of airport photos).
