DHL mulls freight push to Mumbai

Mumbai: DHL Express is keen on starting a freight service to Mumbai due to the burgeoning demand from the Western region.

“A freight service to Mumbai is certainly on our wishlist. We are waiting for the right time and the right volumes before we get going,” DHL Express (India) Senior Vice President and Country Manager R S Subramanian told Deccan Herald.

“We are also in talks with the Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) for a dedicated airfreight facility and are in the queue,” Subramanian added. DHL Express already has dedicated airfreight facilities at a couple of airports in the country.

As far as the demand from the booming e-commerce segment is concerned, Subramanian said that the company is gearing up to handle it.
