Chennai : About four-and-a-half kg of gold, worth Rs 1.35 crore, was seized by Customs officials from a passenger this morning at the Chennai airport.
During routine check carried out by the Customs, Ibrahim Sheik (35), a Kadapa-bound passenger who arrived from Bahrain at 7.30 am, was found in possession of the gold biscuits.
Sources said, 'Due to the suspicious behaviour of the passenger, the officers conducted a detailed personal search, during which they recovered gold bars weighing four-and-a-half kg concealed in the flask which the passenger was carrying.'
