Flight to Abu Dhabi improves aircraft movement at Lohegaon

Pune: The movement of international aircraft at the Lohegaon airport has almost doubled over the past eight months.

The biggest change was observed in August when the number of flights increased from 98 in the month last year to 184 in August 2015, registering over 80% growth. The Pune airport, for the period April to August 2015, registered over 90% increase in international aircraft movement over the same period last year, which is among the highest growth registered across airports in the country. The aircraft movement refers to an aircraft's take-off or landing at an airport.

In January this year, the international aircraft movement at the airport had decreased from 126 in January last year to 92. In February 2015 too, the number decreased from those recorded in the same period in 2014 by over 6%. Thereafter, the segment has picked up considerably.

International aircraft movement at the Pune airport has been increasing consistently since March this year, states the data provided by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
