Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.’s Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) has completed hot temperature/high-altitude testing at Leh in northernmost India, the manufacturer said. The tests of Technology Demonstrator No. 3 at that city (elevation 11,562 ft) “established hover performance and low-speed handling characteristics” of the indigenously designed and developed attack helicopter at altitudes of roughly 10,500 to 15,750 ft and temperatures of 55 to 81 F, HAL said. Pilots from India’s air force and army and representatives of its armed forces’ Center for Military Airworthiness and Certification and Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance participated in the tests, which included landings and takeoffs at forward bases at 13,600 to 15,800 ft with a “reasonable amount of weapon load and fuel,” HAL said.
