IndiGo FY-15 profit rises nearly threefold to Rs 1,304 crore

Mumbai: IndiGo Airlines on Thursday said it posted its highest ever profit of Rs 1,304 crore in FY2015, a jump of 2.8 times from the Rs 473 crore it made last fiscal.  The sky-high numbers in an embattled industry were delivered by “low fuel costs, passenger growth and better yields”, according to IndiGo president Aditya Ghosh.

IndiGo, the country's largest domestic airline by market share, is awaiting approval from the markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) for a public listing of its shares.

The latest filing, which the airline submitted to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation today, shows that the airline's net profit in the fourth quarter FY-15 was Rs 584 crore while its average profit in three preceding quarters was Rs 240 crore, based on the Rs 720 crore it made in the nine months ending December 2014.
