Karipur airport gets DGCA nod for runway strengthening works

Kozhikode: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has finally given the nod for carrying out the runway re-carpeting works at the Karipur Airport.

Though the Airport Authority of India (AAI) had announced commencement of the works from September 1 onwards, the runway strengthening could not start due to lack of approval from DGCA.

Karipur Airport Director, K Janardhanan said that the runway strengthening works would start off on September 23 onwards.

"The DGCA has given the final execution level approval to undertake the runway strengthening works proposed by AAI. We will soon issue notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to inform airlines about the scheduled closure of the runway for eight hours daily to facilitate the works," he added.
