NCB Seizes 4 kg Cocaine from Airport

KOLKATA:The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Wednesday seized four kilograms of cocaine from a South African woman on her arrival at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport.

NCB sources said that Govinder Savitri arrived here after purchasing cocaine worth Rs 16 crore in the international market from Brazil. It is suspected that the woman is a member of an international narcotics trafficking gang that smuggles cocaine from Brazil to India. NCB sources said that the woman was headed to a guest house in Salt Lake and concealed the cocaine packets carefully in her luggage. The NCB, on receiving a tip off, nabbed the woman the moment she landed at the airport.

In March, the NCB nabbed two Nigerians and a Delhi resident Ghana national  for trying to smuggle nine kilograms of cocaine worth Rs 50 crore in the international market. The cocaine was concealed in rexin and carbon paper to avoid detection through an X-ray scanner.
