New Airport parking fee to make app-based taxi rides costly by Rs 110

Mumbai: App-based cab rides to and from the airport will cost you more, with Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) setting up a dedicated pickup area for commercial vehicles in the domestic terminal's parking lot and charging a parking fee of Rs 110 for its use.

Taxi aggregator Uber has already sent out a communication that this fee, like toll charges, will be payable by the passenger. The MIAL move is not without benefits, as passengers won't have to walk a considerable distance to board the cab.

In a post on its website, Uber said, "We're adjusting our fares to automatically account for this surcharge on a ride successfully requested at the airports. This works in the same way that the Bandra-Worli Sea Link toll is automatically added to your trip fare.
