Ahmedabad: The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel airport has drawn the maximum international tourists among seven airports that were given the green signal for e-tourist visa in September.
On August 15, Ahmedabad airport along with Amritsar, Tiruchirapalli, Jaipur, Varanasi, Gaya and Lucknow got in-principle approval for e-tourist visa for 113 countries.
In September, 31,729 tourists arrived on e-tourist visa in the country as compared to 2,170 during the same month last year, registering a growth of 1362.2%. As many as 228 tourists from US, UK, Australia and other countries touched down at Ahmedabad airport through the e-tourist visa system in the month of September. The largest number of tourists to avail e-tourist visa facility at Ahmedabad airport was from USA followed by UK, Australia, Canada and Japan.
