Airport Authority of India to conduct audit of all its fixed assets

With frequent allegations of misuse and encroachment of large parts of its land in Mumbai, Airport Authority of India (AAI) has decided to conduct audit of its fixed assets, including the land it owns, so that in future such lands can be guarded against land sharks and the ones encroached can be taken back.

A large part of AAI land around Mumbai and Juhu airport apart from parcel of land near Juhu beach and Dahisar Highway remains encroached. A similar audit has also been planned for Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi, which like the one in Mumbai is also a privately held airport.
Insiders claim that an audit is necessary as even AAI is on poor footing on some of the land parcel, as the document in some of the cases are untraceable.
