First charter flight arrives with 33 Ukrainian guests

Vasco: The first chartered flight of this season ‘FlyDubai,’ a low-cost airline operated by Dubai Aviation Corporation, landed at the Dabolim International Airport early Friday morning at 5 am from Ukraine via Dubai, bringing in 33 Ukrainian passengers.
However, even though the state government has been trying to increase Goa’s popularity as a top tourist destination by launching various drives through advertisements, none of the officials of either the state’s tourism department or the Airports Authority of India (AAI) were present at the airport to welcome the guests.
The Ukrainian passengers were welcomed by the Minar travel agents by garlanding all of them. The tourists seemed upset over the lack of interest shown by the concerned authorities. Some of the airlines’ staff working at the airport were also shocked to find nobody representing the tourism department or the AAI to receive the guests, who arrived in the state by the first chartered flight.
