Flight operations from new chandigarh terminal from today

Chandigarh: The flight operations at the Chandigarh Airport will shift to the new terminal from Monday. The airport was closed for three days from October 16 to 18 as the Indian Air Force was undertaking maintenance of the runway. An airport official said that the process of shifting was complete and the flight operations would commence from the new terminal on Monday. Jet Airways flight from Delhi would be the first flight to land and take off from here. The flight would arrive in Chandigarh at 7.35 am. To reach the terminal, passengers will have to travel more distance. The terminal can be accessed from Aerocity road from either side, i.e. Sector 66 or Patiala road. Feasibility of new routes from Chandigarh will be looked at.
The new terminal was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 11. The terminal can accommodate 1,600 passengers and has 48 check-in counters. Inside the airport premises, departing passengers will take the elevated road to access departure hall and arrival of passengers will be from the ground floor.
