Yavatmal: With the inability expressed by the Reliance Company to develop Yavatmal airport, the state government is likely to take back the airport from them and may hand it over to a competitive bidder who is able to expedite the long pending developmental works or it may be returned to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). The MIDC had set up the airport in 1998.
The decision was taken by a review meeting held at Mumbai on Monday under the chairmanship of the finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar. The meeting was attended by the MOS for industries Pravin Pote, Yavatmal MLA Madan Yerawar, additional principal secretary of general administration P S Meena, representatives of the Reliance company and MIDC.
