Green signal for Mopa airport

Panaji: Giving a green signal to the Mopa International Airport in Goa, union environment, forest and climate change minister Prakash Javadekar said that the greenfield airport would get the necessary clearance. Whether it is "Mopa airport or any other development in any other state, we are always positive. We need to ensure sustainable development. We need to allow development to happen but also need to ensure sustainable care. We must achieve both and therefore when the proposal comes to us, we will definitely grant it," he said at the Global Business Forum at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim on Friday.

Taking a swipe at the previous UPA government, union minister for environment, forest and climate change Javadekar said on Friday that under the earlier regime, the environment and forest ministry had turned into a roadblock that was scuttling growth. Now, under his charge, the ministry had streamlined the decision and policy making process.
