Lord Vishnu's Garuda Sculpture Is Unveiled At Tirupati Airport, Becomes An Instant Hit

As PM Narendra Modi unveils the grand statue of Garuda at Tirupati Airport, one can't help but admire sculptor Arun Pandit's beautiful creation. Lord Vishnu's carrier and pacifier, the Garuda is no less than the epitome of divinity, believed to have led to the formation of two branches of the Sam Vedas - the Brihat and the Rathantara.
Pandit, who began his work on this Garuda installation on March this year, talks about its symbolism:
"Garuda, the celestial carrier of Lord Venkateswara has an inseparable link to Tirupati. I have created a sculpture which is symbolic in today’s world and times. My image shows that the man is troubled, and he wants to find peace, his soul is trying to get out of his body. I created 12 hands and spread them like the wings of the Garuda. The wings are done in black ebony shades and the bronze is textured to create a contrast. The image of man is half because he is deeply filled with angst. His face is hidden. I have been doing works like these for the past 10 years. I was showing that when a man finds peace he will take flight. In modern day terms this man is trying to reach his ‘Moksha’ (salvation)."
