Shillong: The full bench of the Meghalaya High Court yesterday directed the Meghalaya government to demolish the buildings which are impeding the project of expansion of Shillong Airport at Umroi.
On Thursday, the Meghalaya government submitted before the full bench of the High Court that the buildings have been illegally constructed after the payment of compensation and the authority has already given eviction notice to such unauthorized occupants.
Presenting its submission before the court, the government said that on account of interference through a letter dated August 3, 2015 by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the eviction process could not be completed.
But the state government stated that in its latest letter on October 14, submitted during the course of hearing, the letter dated August 3 has since been withdrawn.
