The Air India boss is keeping an eye on subordinates travels

Mumbai: Air India's new CMD, Ashwani Lohani (pictured), is tracking the official travel details of his colleagues, and has asked various department heads to submit details of the tours that they have sanctioned to their subordinates.

Lohani, a 1980 batch officer of the Indian Railways Service of mechanical engineers, who took charge of Air India on August 31, issued a circular on September 24 asking for details to be made available to him periodically.

"Every departmental head should submit monthly statement to the official tours sanctioned by him for his officials. The statement should come to me by the 7th of every month," the circular, signed by Lohani, said.

Senior airline officials said that the CMD was concerned when a few senior pilots told him about the large number of official tours undertaken every month, and a circular was issued after a senior Air India director was found to have returned from a trip to Johannesburg, South Africa, via Mauritius without authorisation.
