Coimbatore: Due to low visibility, two early morning flights from Chennai could not make landing at the Coimbatore Airport on Saturday. While one was diverted to Kochi, another one was sent back to Chennai.
According to the airport director, G Prakash Reddy, Indigo 6E 375 and Spicejet SG 3021, which took off from Chennai at 6.30am and 7.30am, respectively, could not make landing at the Coimbatore Airport as the visibility on Saturday morning was just 1.5km, against the minimum required visibility of 2.5km.
"As the flights neared the Coimbatore Airport, the captains felt the visibility was not enough for landing. While the Indigo flight was directed to fly back to Chennai, the Spicejet was diverted to Kochi," said Reddy.
