91-year-old flyer suffers heart attack at airport

Mumbai: A 91-year-old flyer suffered a massive cardiac arrest at the Mumbai airport on Thursday. In a resuscitation operation that lasted over 35 minutes, airport doctors revived the patient five times before he was in a condition to be sent to hospital.
The incident took place in Terminal 1B around 10 am, when the 91-year-old wheelchair-passenger, booked on an IndiGo flight to Kolkata, suffered a cardiac arrest and suddenly collapsed in the security area. "He was rushed to the medical room in the same terminal where the airport medical started CPR," said an airport official. "Initially, the passenger had no pulse and showed no cardiac activity, but he was revived successfully, which included 5 shocks using AED. An endotracheal intubation was done and ventilation started," the official added. The airport's medical team also administered emergency medications. He was later shifted to nearby Nanavati Hospital.
