Agencies pave way for delivery of Airbus A-320 new engine options

New Delhi: Paving the way for delivery of the fuel-efficient Airbus A-320 new engine option or NEOs to Indian and other global carriers, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Tuesday gave the aircraft joint Type Certification.

Indian carriers IndiGo and GoAir have ordered this aircraft. While IndiGo could get six Airbus A-320 NEOs in December, GoAir will start getting them next year.

"This double seal of approval represents a great achievement for Airbus. It recognizes the hard work performed by all the teams at Airbus and Pratt & Whitney. It demonstrates the A320neo is meeting all requirements," said Fabrice Bregier, Airbus President and CEO. "The A320neo is now cleared for its first delivery and ready to offer many airlines its winning combination of unbeatable economics and outstanding cabin comfort."
