Air India’s Ahmedabad-Newark flight grounded, takes off after 24 hours later

Ahmedabad: More than 300 passengers had a harrowing time after Air India's AI-191 Ahmedabad-Mumbai-Newark flight was grounded late Tuesday night following technical issues. The passengers who were ready to board the flight were informed at the last minute that the flight was not ready to take off. While the Mumbai-bound passengers were accommodated in other flights, the ones scheduled to travel to Newark were flown by the same flight a day later - on Wednesday night.

Passengers though were not too pleased about the inconvenience caused.

"For more than three hours we were kept waiting without any information about the new timings. Until 12.30 am we did not even know that the flight is going to take-off," said Rajesh Patel, businessman who was travelling to Newark to meet his son and other family members.
