Airport Issue, ANSU Demands Apology from Arunachal Governor

Expressing its dismay over the reported recommendation by Arunachal Pradesh Governor JP Rajkhowa to the Prime Minister that the proposed Greenfield airport at Hollongi be scrapped and instead Lilabari airport in Assam upgraded, the All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) has demanded a public apology from him for hurting the people’s sentiment.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, ANSU president Byabang Joram rued despite being the constitutional head of the state, the Governor instead of suggesting govt on developmental activities has betrayed the people of the state by writing to the PM against the interest of the state and its people.

It is the govt of India policy to have one airport in every state of the country and the state govt is rigorously pursuing the matter with the Ministry of Civil Aviation to establish the Greenfield airport at Hollongi. Why he has written letter to the PM? Here, the integrity of the constitutional head is very much doubtful, the ANSU president said.

Demanding the Governor to reveal the names of those organizations and persons whoever suggested him to shift the airport at the cost of high land compensation, the student leader called for resignation of Tamiyo Taga, Leader of Opposition as his name was repeatedly mentioned by the Governor for upgradation of Lilabari airport.
