Lucknow: The primary design and layout plan of Chaudhary Charan Singh metro station proposed at 50 metre distance from the airport will now be constructed 100 metres away, as per fresh orders of Airport Authority of India. The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation has been insisting on building this station 50 metres away for the convenience of air passengers. But with AAI slamming the proposal and asking metro team to redesign the plan, LMRC will now work on a fresh design locating the station 100 metre away from airport.
Officials said, "We are allowed to build underground staircases, elevators and foot over bridges within 50 metres to give easy access to passengers and none of it poses security threats to the airport. But AAI doesn't allow putting metro station within 50 metre range. They have some developments proposed in the area too." The airport metro station will be built in the second phase, which is to be completed by 2019.
