Dimapur: Air India flight bound from Dimapur to Kolkata was cancelled Thursday even as the airport manager claimed that it was due to a ‘technical snag’ but without divulging more details.
Adding to the woes of the harassed152 passengers who had to reschedule their engagements due to the cancellation, the flight was again delayed for nearly two hours Friday before it finally took off.
Subhasis Basu, the new manager of Airports Authority of India, Dimapur Airport, told this reporter that the the captain of the plane had to delay departure again on Friday as the ‘technical snag’ continued to be a problem and did not want to take chances.
Two passengers out of the 152 had cancelled their tickets but the rest left for Kolkata on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.
One airport official disclosed, that the flight was first cancelled due to a snag and departure had to be delayed on Friday in the interest of passenger safety. He said the passengers were happy when the plane finally flew after their ordeal at the airport on Thursday.
